Almanac

This is a journal of The Governor's HopFarm in South Windsor, CT.

5/6/2019.

Crystal hop rhizomes are planted in the Governor's Hop Farm for the first time. The only place available is in the shade as the soil and hop trellis are not yet ready.

Cascade hop rhizomes are planted around old oak tree, to take advantage of the tree's height to string up the twine. This is a problematic area because the old oak tree has big roots that will inhibit rhizome growth. I must build up the soil in this area with permaculture techniques to raise the level of the soil, and also increase soil health.
